One of the best starter sets for beginning rocket builders... all you need to fly
All that is needed to get this Deluxe Starter Set built in under an hour is included save a few basic modelling tools. This is no diddy back garden rocket - Alpha IIIs fly high - give it plenty of space. An empty football pitch is excellent!

The Alpha III set is for beginners who want to build AND fly rockets. That being said, the kit goes together in under an hour. The critical fin assembly is pre-fabricated so the hard part is done and it will fly straight as a die. Give the glue a half hour or so before you fly it, though, eh? ;-)
The Alpha is a venerable Estes design that will fly on almost ANY 18mm motor: As, Bs or Cs. And you can get up to 1000 feet on a good day with a C motor! Mind the size of your recovery area! It might be a good idea to add a pack of B4-4s to your order so that you can get to grips with the power levels available. We still have a few of the old style boxes that can be used as a flight case and, with care, will last through many more rockets.
If you really want to get waaaay up there, Klima D9-7 motors will certainly get an Alpha III out of sight!

Our Deluxe starter set is also extremely good gift idea because it includes all you really need: batteries, wadding, a pack of motors along with the rocket kit, launch pad and launch controller... and some CA gel glue! Just let those few dabs of glue dry... then take it to a good place to fly!
The weakest link in any standard rocket kit is the recovery system. Estes standard components are built to a low price, not a high level of durability. To be sure you get your rocket back we recommend Starter Set Upgrade Kits, an economical version of our Recovery Upgrade Kits that addresses the standard recovery components' short comings and is a bit kinder on the environment, too. For more information click HERE
Our full-on Recovery Upgrade Kits provide the highest level of durability. They are principally for rocket builders that value the time and skill they put into their birds. That's not to say that failing to get back a beloved Starter Set rocket is any less traumatic (especially if child disappointment is involved). For more information click HERE
