The overactive imaginations of the Estes marketing department say "Journey" to outer space with the high flying Journey!" Powered by standard (18mm) engines, you can reach heights of 1100 feet! That's not outer space which starts 100 km up... but it's a start ;-)
E2X means Easy to Assemble so you will be at the launch site in no time at all - typically under an hour. All rocket parts including the plastic fins are pre-coloured and the decals are self-stick for easy assembly. No painting required.
Our more modest technical marketing nerd says "This skinny rocket flies high because of minimal frontal area. If you want to get seriously fast and high, you can plug in Klima 18mm D9-7s and double the altitude or more because Klima motors are lighter than the Estes BP ones as well as being twice as strong as a C motor, too.
After an hour or so just letting the glue really dry, Journey's projected max altitude on an Estes C motor is 1100 ft. (335 m). 2000 feet (670m) on a Klima D is a reasonable expectation.

The weakest link in any standard rocket kit is the recovery system. Estes standard components are built to a low price, not a high level of durability. To be sure you get your rocket back we recommend Starter Set Upgrade Kits, an economical version of our Recovery Upgrade Kits that addresses the standard recovery components' short comings and is a bit kinder on the environment, too. For more information click HERE
Our full-on Recovery Upgrade Kits provide the highest level of durability. They are principally for rocket builders that value the time and skill they put into their birds. That's not to say that failing to get back a beloved Starter Set rocket is any less traumatic (especially if child disappointment is involved). For more information click HERE
The Journey requires rocket motors, igniters and recovery wadding to operate for each flight so if you want more than the included three flights, check out the recommended motors below.

With our help, getting off to a great start in rocketry doesn't take a lot of "rocket science" ;-) just a bit of reading.
