Description

The Mira starter set includes everything you need to get flying with model rocketry.

  1x Mira rocket
  1x Angle adjustable launch pad
  1x Launch controller
  6x A6-4 motors for 6 flights
  6x Electric igniters
1x PP3 Industrial battery for the launch controller

For the serious beginner that wants to progress to bigger and more powerful rockets.

Recommended engines:
A6-4 (55 m altitude - First flights)
B4-4 (160m altitude)
C6-7 (410m - Out of sight)

The three fin design has an accurate and easy to construct NO GLUE "fin can" that virtually guarantees straight flights for this model rocket kit. Sticky back decals and self coloured nose and fins mean that there's no need to paint Mira.

Included in this set is the rugged Klima Air Launcher, their Air Launch Controller, six motors, wadding, 9v PP3 battery and, oh, yeah, an easy to build slender Mira rocket that can see you at the launch field just as soon as the glue is dry!

The Estes starter/launch sets are great fun for beginners that want to have a go. This Klima set, however, gives you a top class set of ground support equipment that is capable of going well beyond A/B/C or even D powered rockets.

The Mira set's pistol grip Air Launch Controller and Launch Pad need special mention. For the higher power requirements of mid or high power rockets, you can add a second 9v PP3 battery to the controller.

The wide stance pad can be upgraded with a 6mm rod that is capable of launching D, E or F power motors. You can go even bigger with the rail assembly.

You will need some modelling supplies to complete the rocket.
The essentials are Wood glue (not a lot), scissors, 180-240 grit sand paper (not 100% essential).
You can paint the rocket too if you wish! And you might find a Ruler, craft knife and a pencil handy for all modeling setups.

Note: Model rocketry is recommended for ages 10 and up with adult supervision for those under 12. Unless otherwise specified, all models require assembly. Tools, construction and finishing supplies sold separately. In order to launch, a launch system, model rocket engines, igniters and recovery wadding are required - sold separately-unless otherwise specified.

FAQ

Are there any other things I should buy?
Neil Bowen
For this starter set, you don't need anything else except the odd bit of wood glue and a few tools to construct it and fly. That being said it's always handy to grab a spare battery, some igniters and wadding too if you're planning on lots of flying.
What is the law on model rockets?
Neil Bowen
Flying rockets is not illegal and most rocket motors can be purchased, stored and flown without the need for certification or approval. Most rocket motors cannot be purchased by minors and we only sell to people over the age of 18 at modelrockets.co.uk. When flying you have a legal obligation not to endanger people, property or aircraft and you are legally prohibited from flying any aircraft (including model rockets, model aircraft, etc) into controlled airspace. This activity is regulated by the Civial Aviation Authority (CAA) with the Air Navigation Order (ANO) and any flights exceeding 400 feet above ground level (AGL) are subject to regulation by this document. You can read more at the UK Rocketry association website by googling "UKRA Launching rockets"
What is the best glue to use?
Neil Bowen
We love gorilla glue(s)! Both their wood glue and epoxy resin are great.
Can I use the launch pad and controller for different rockets?
Neil Bowen
Yes you can.  This pad can even take an upgraded rod to launch even bigger rockets as well.
Where can I purchase more engines?
Neil Bowen
We stock and sell a huge range of motors, please browse to the Rocket motors tab on our shop. Just make sure the engine you pick fits in your model (or you can always buy a model that fits of course).
Can I return my item?
Neil
Of course! If it's unused and unopened in re-sellable condition you can return your item for up to 60 days from the date of delivery.
How soon will I get my order?
Neil Bowen
If the item has stock when you order then we will dispatch it within 1 working day. And will be on a 24-hour courier service. We can't guarantee delivery speed though as sometimes couriers can take an extra day or two.
Does this set include everything?
Neil
This set includes a rocket, launch pad, launch controller, motors, battery and wadding. You will need the odd construction item such as glue. Any additional bits and pieces you might need are listed on the products description and we also sell in our shop.  These items are not typically included as most people in to models and crafts will have them already.
What age rating are your starter sets for?
Neil
Model rocketry starter sets are recommended for ages 10 and up with adult supervision for those under 12.
