AT LAST - an inexpensive and easy to use recording altimeter for most model rockets! Answer that eternal question: How high did it go?
This fully assembled altimeter is a must have for all model rocketeers! The Estes Altimeter has a 4 digit LCD read out and displays in imperial or metric units. The altimeter accurately measures model rocket launch altitudes from 0 - 9999 feet (0 - 3000 m) and can store up to 10 consecutive flights!
In small rockets, be careful. The Altimeter is a VERY tight fit in a BT-20 but should be fine in larger diameter body tubes. While it weighs only 12g, stability should always be confirmed especially in very light weight models. SpaceCAD is invaluable for any rocket modifications including payloads like the Estes Altimeter
The Altimeter has good sampling accuracy. 0.3m below 1000m and 1m above 2000m which is good enough for most contests and certainly for back garden rocket engineers.
Installing the Altimeter is simple. It affixes to the recovery harness mount under the nose cone with an included clip. You need to make some vent holes in the rocket body to allow the barometric sensor sense the change in air pressure. Instructions are included. Number, size and location of the holes is a science and an art.
The weakest link in any standard rocket kit is the recovery system. Estes standard components are built to a low price, not a high level of durability. To be sure you get your rocket AND altimeter back we are recommending one of our Starter Set Recovery Upgrade Kits.
The Starter Set Recovery Upgrade Kit is an economical version of our Recovery Upgrade Kits that addresses the standard recovery components' short comings and is a bit kinder on the environment, too. For more information click HERE
Length: 55 mm
Diameter: 18 mm
Weight: 12 g
Battery: (included) L1016F/MN11/A11/etc alkaline battery
Our full-on Recovery Upgrade Kits provide the highest level of durability. They are principally for rocket builders that value the time and skill they put into their birds. That's not to say that failing to get back a beloved Starter Set rocket is any less traumatic (especially if child disappointment is involved). For more information click HERE
Estes model rocketry is recommended for ages 10 and up with adult supervision for those under 12. Unless otherwise specified, all models require assembly. Tools, construction and finishing supplies sold separately. In order to launch, a launch system, model rocket engines, igniters and recovery wadding are required - sold separately-unless otherwise specified.
