Doncha hate it when your pride and joy takes a tumble because the chute's lines got tangled?
This is the same technology used by fighter pilot ejection seat drogues - for sure that's a time when self-macrame'ed shroud lines are extremely unwelcome.
These chutes are made from light weight ripstop nylon with stitched high visibility multicolour panels, 20 inches in diameter with marquisette netting instead of suspension lines. When inflated, the chute takes on a high drag hemispherical shape.
The chute's nylon webbing harness is stitched to the netting and can be easily reinforced with Kevlar cord whipping. The harness ends with a stitched or bonded loop.
The chute is big enough to return rockets weighing between 250 and 500 grams gently to our home planet. They pack easily into airframes of BT-60 or bigger (or 38mm if you think in those terms). You can get one into a BT-50 (one inch or 25mm) if you have a 300mm of length at your disposal.
Your chute needs protecting from hot ejection gases and burning bits of crud so you should consider an ejection baffle or an appropriately sized Firewall Nomex heat shield, click HERE for our in-stock options. Or consider one of our Kit C Recovery Upgrade sets that include these fantastic 'chutes.
Because ejections sometimes are a bit early OR a bit late, you should build some resilience into your harness... there are lots of ways to do it without using stretchy knicker elastic. If you need help, ask us by email!
