I got this kit to restart my old hobby and the kit is great, the amazon is big rocket and very easy to built and a great flyer and the cross fire is great little rocket with flies well.
I bought this for a Xmas present for my 10yr old niece. 2 wks after Xmas we built the set together (I think that its worth pointing out that you will need time for the glue to set after different stages of the build(and I would recommend superglue for the Amazon) and for the paint to dry on the Crossfire. Also...make sure the engine holder for the crossfire is built exactly to the mm specs given (we almost couldn't fit the engine due to a small error in my measurement-- but some improvised later trimming seemed to work).Overall about 4 hours work for 2 absolute beginners. We decided that in case of catastrophic failure we would forego the low-powered testflights and try a full powered "s*^t or bust" launch. All I can say is WOW! Both sets worked fantastically - amazing heights and both had successful parachute deployments! Worst part was the 600m run to collect the Crossfire after its 400m high flight!!! I cannot recommend this set enough - I wish I had one 40 years ago!!!!!!
The perfect starter kit - Rocketry 101 in a box. Comes with all the goodies necessary to get going. The Amazon is E2X and the Crossfire is skill level one. They'll introduce you to basic building skills (but the Crossfire needs a few coats of paint which adds to the fun!). Both rockets are fun for different reasons: The Amazon is impressive in size and lets you use larger motors which have a bit of a roar to them. The Crossfire is light and can shoot impressively high on the smallest of motors. Loads of fun in one box. I received 6 Klima B4-4 motors with my kit and they have been A LOT of fun. Happy flying!
I wanted to write a review not of the rockets and their various additions because I don't know much about those but on the service received from Modelrockets.co.uk. I bought this set for my godson (and his father!) and the service from Paul was amazing. My godson requested larger motors for the rockets which I was happy to order but when Paul saw this he immediately contacted me directly to check that I knew the implications of this upgrade. We had an email discussion about motor sizes and rocket recoverability etc and a final conclusion was reach to satisfy rocket mad godson and safety conscious godmother. Thank you Paul for exemplary service. I'm sure we'll be back to buy more crazy boys' toys!!
