The Flash is Estes' latest starter set for beginning rocket builders
All the other great Estes Starter Sets have RTF (Ready to Fly) or ARTF (Almost Ready to Fly) rockets for a rapid take off for people that want to be rocket flyers first and not rocket builders. They are kinda "Lego" rockets and that's just fine if you need a quick rocket fix...
This Flash Starter Set is for people who want to build AND fly rockets. That being said, the kit goes together in under an hour with NO glue or plastic cement. The critical fin assembly is engineered for correct alignment so the hard part is done. You can fly as soon as you get the Porta Pad legs clipped in place and the batteries in the Electron Beam Launch Controller.
Building your own rocket adds a certain edge... and you have much larger bragging rights at the end of your successful flights! This Flash rocket is actually a slight variation on the tried-and-true Dragonite so you know that all the rocket science was done on the drawing board and not your dining room table!
The Flash's 3-fin design allows this sleek, high flyer to soar up to 1,000 feet into the air with a C motor... but initial training flights can be kept closer to earth with smaller motors. Performance on a "mere" A motor is still pretty amazing!
This E2X skill level kit is VERY easy to assemble - a half hour's work, max, under normal cirmstances.
No painting is required thanks to the pre-colored parts. Snap together and apply the decals, and you're ready to blast off. In standard trim, the Flash recovers on a colorful and pre-assembled 12 inch parachute and is ready to fly again in minutes.
Our economical Flash Starter Kit can be enhanced with a Recovery Upgrade Kit so that you can fly it reliabily over and over again. That includes a ripstop nylon parachute, substituted a harness of braided 100 pound Kevlar for the knicker elastic and added a swatch of Nomex flameproof cloth so you don't have to strew slightly singed fireproof bog roll all over the countryside. A dab of PVA white glue can be helpful but is not required.
This starter set is extremely good value: just add 4 x AA batteries, a pack of A8-3 motors and take them along with the rocket kit, launch pad and launch controller to a good place to fly (park, farm or playing field)!
