You can't use a starter kit pad forever!
The Estes Portapad E is required for launching Estes "E" size model rockets... or any bigger model rocket. "Big" means diameter, length, weight OR power where you need extra stability during take-off... especially if there is any wind. You can launch smaller rockets, too, and enjoy a larger margin of safety.
The E provides a sturdy, wide based launch platform with a large steel blast deflector and a 3 piece 1/4 inch launch rod that can be tilted up to 30 degrees (which is more than the safety code allows).
The E pad can also use a 3/16 inch (5mm) MaxiRod (not included). Launch rod safety cap included to prevent accidental eye impaling. The big blast plate keeps the turf from smoldering even if you launch big clusters like the Richter Recker. Depending on the size, weight and launch conditions, you can use the E pad for some mid-power (E-G) rockets.
