About Model Rocket Shop

Welcome to the Model Rocket Shop. This is our story.

Andy Little founded this business way back in 1999. He ran it for four years quite successfully flogging rockets and bits to all and sundry from his Lancashire fastness. Andy to this day remains involved with Model Rocket Shop as the Business Development Manager Emeritus and mans our embassy in Lancashire.

Along came Paul Lavin in late 2003, a man who had been badly bitten by rocketry and needed something to fill his otherwise empty hours when he wasn't posting an armed guard on his teenage daughters or chivvying them into building rockets for the British Space Modelling Team, junior division. He has now achieved his life's dream of having more rockets than anybody else in Europe.

Paul in Tech Camp fineryPaul is a Level 2 High Power Rocket flyer and an RSO. He is Prefect of Tripoli Rocketry UK and the senior member of NAR UK. He is an advisor of Blast Off!, an organisation that seeks to inflame secondary school pupils with the glories of physics, chemistry and maths using, you guessed it, rockets.

Paul is a SETPOINT Science and Engineering Ambassador and preaches the serious fun of rocketry to secondary school age yoof. When a spare moment presents itself, he is tinkering on his Level 3 project, the Mother Of All Tetrahedrons, that will fly (someday) on a hybrid M motor or maybe it will be the Kraken Max on a Pro75 M, whichever one gets done first!

Catherine and her Snitch

Other members of the team are Catherine Lavin, the mildly bemused keeper of the Model Rocket Shop and Hesperis Tech numbers and Snitch fleet. Catherine is head of any mission that departs this sceptred isle as she fluent in French and Russian, is learning Catalan and can gesticulate appropriately in most other European languages.---->

Gaby in Serbia for EuSMC <--- Gaby Lavin is holder of several British rocketry competition records. She lead the team in the European Space Modelling Championships in Serbia in 2003 with top times in S4A boost gliders and S9A helicopter duration. Gaby, an Exscitec Masterclass alumni, attended Brunel University and is the Marketing Manager of Model Rocket Shop. She speaks tresfluent French and not-quite-so-fluent Spanish. Now works for a hedge fund in Mayfair. Sic transit gloria ;-)

Genni in Serbia for EuSMC

Genni Lavin is the youngest UK Level 2 and the only Level 2 flyer to achieved her certification with an experimental solid motor (she built it at John Wickman's Rocket Camp in Wyoming). Genni is holder of a number of British space modelling competition records from the European and World Championships and has a shelf full of egg lofting trophies. She is an alumni of NAGTY, Space Camp in California, Space School at the University of Leicester and Rocket Camp. She got her GCSE in Astronomy when she was 14. She attended Welbeck, the Defense Sixth Form College where they talked her out of pursuing an engineering degree or having much at all to do with the MoD if she can help it. Now at Hull doing geography and in her spare time digs up pots and bones in the Ukraine. She heads up Deepsky Education Services in Yorkshire. --->

Patrick's the man for getting orders right and out the door on time<---Patrick is the Model Rocket Shop's Operations Manager. He's a very experienced Level 2 flyer and has even tempted his MUM into building and flying rockets despite the number of rockets he leaves hanging in the trees at Benington. Hybrids next!
