Limited Edition Estes Saturn V Kit EST 2157 - almost out of stock in Europe!
Long out of production, this highly sought-after Skill Level 4 kit was the crowning glory of the Estes Masters Series. This kit commemorative re-issue of the famous Apo11o 11 Saturn V rocket that sent men to the moon, you can't get a more model collectible rocket kit. These kits were originally made from 1998 to about 2000.
This limited edition 1:100 scale kit features injection and vacuum formed plastic parts and the usual cardboard and balsa bits. This is officially a Skill Level 4 as there are a lot of parts, thin plastic BT wraps and it must be built LIGHT. If you are an experienced builder, you can create superb flying model from this kit.
If built according to the instructions (LIGHT!), this model is definitely flies but is still underpowered on a D12-3. There are a number of solutions to this including motor substitutions and clustering. There are also a number of recovery solutions that may work better than the standard issue. As this model has a large silhouette, it should not be flown in much wind at all especially off the standard Estes Porta Pad (MaxiRod or not!). If you intend to build AND fly this kit, let us help you get the best result!
Our personal recommendation is a Cesaroni Pro24 E or F and a Klima Air Launcher. You will also need to upgrade your launch controller. Klima URZ or their pistol-shaped one with two 9V batteries are good choices.
We are including in this special Model Rocket Shop bundle a generous swatch of Nomex fireproof cloth to act as permanent ejection wadding (no more paper litter!)
Length: 43.25 inches
Diameter: 3.98 inches
Recovery: 3 parachutes, dual 24 inch and 18 inch
Recovery upgrade: Many options for the experience builder
Launch equipment: MaxiRod required, more sturdy pad recommended
Recommended motor: D12-3 or many other options for the experienced builder including multiple D9s, Cesaroni Pro24 and AeroTech.
NOTE Please use the courier shipping alternative for this large kit. Estes' own box is unsuitable for shipment and often a custom box has to be made and significant internal padding added. With a courier, there is more insurance cover, too, in case things go wrong! If you are paying for a courier anyway, why not get some motors at the same time?
